How do I Install a Maytag Quiet Series 200 Dishwasher?

Turn off power to your existing dishwasher at the service breaker. Remove the panel at the base of the dishwasher by turning the two Phillips screws counterclockwise. This will give you access to the water supply line and the electrical connection.

Turn off the water supply line under the kitchen sink by turning the valve handle clockwise. Disconnect and remove the water supply line to the dishwasher under the sink by using an adjustable wrench and turning the nut counterclockwise. Remove the other end of the water supply line where it connects to the dishwasher. Remove the water supply line. Disconnect the dishwasher drain line under the sink. The dishwasher drain is usually clamped to the garbage disposal or sink drain and can be removed by turning the screw on the clamp counterclockwise.

Disconnect the electrical connection by loosening the wire nuts and unscrewing the ground wire from the dishwasher frame. If the 3-wire electrical supply is clamped in place, use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the clamp.

Open the dishwasher door and locate the bracket under the counter-top that holds the unit in place. Loosen the screws with either a flat head screwdriver or Phillips head screwdriver. The dishwasher is ready to be pulled out.

Place a tarp or large piece of cardboard in front of the dishwasher to protect your flooring. Gently pull the dishwasher out ensuring that the power supply wire does not get caught on the underside of the unit. Remove completely.

Tilt the new dishwasher gently on its back. Apply three revolutions of Teflon tape to the threads on the water supply angle fitting. Screw the fitting into the water supply inlet and tighten clockwise with an adjustable wrench. Tilt the dishwasher back up.

Install the new water line to the water supply under the sink. Run the water supply through the hole between the cabinets. Install the new drain line to the same place where the other drain was removed. Run the drain through the hole between the cabinets. Position the water supply line, electrical supply line, and drain line on the floor stretched toward the cabinet opening.

Remove packing material from the sides and back of the dishwasher and remove any racks from the inside. Place the dishwasher in front of the cabinet opening and gently push evenly into position. The supply lines may need to be moved slightly so that they will clear the dishwasher motor.

Connect the water supply line to the dishwasher inlet. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten securely. Connect the electrical supply by feeding the electrical line through the metal clamp into the junction box until the metal or vinyl wrap is just through the clamp. Tighten the clamp with a screwdriver. Connect like colored wires together with wire nuts. The copper colored ground wire is connected to a green wire or screwed onto the green grounding screw inside the junction box. Connect the drain by first placing the clamp onto the drain line. Slide the drain line onto the drain outlet and then tighten the clamp where the drain line and drain outlet overlap.

Reach down and turn the adjustable feet until the mounting brackets on the top of the dishwasher are touching the underside of the counter. Open the dishwasher door and hold it about halfway open. Hold a torpedo level against the inside top of the dishwasher and adjust the feet until the unit is level.

Secure the dishwasher in place by driving screws through the mounting brackets into the bottom of the counter. Replace the cover at the bottom of the dishwasher. Turn on the water and power supplies. Run the dishwasher and check for leaks.
