How to Clean Blood Stains Off a Wooden Deck

Most wooden decks are made from finished wood, so cleaning blood stains requires little more than a quick swipe with a wet, soapy sponge or rag. With quick action, the stain won't have time to penetrate through layers of finish.

Bloody Stains

  • Dab--don't rub--the stain with a clean sponge or rag soaked in cold water and lathered with regular dish soap.

  • Use ammonia for a particularly stubborn stain. Dab a little bit onto a fresh rag or sponge, dilute with cold water, and then dab onto the stain.

  • Repeat as necessary.

  • In extreme cases, you might have to sand down the stained area and refinish it.
