How to Clean Jewelry With Club Soda
Over time, jewelry can become dirty and dull from the oils on your skin and perspiration, not to mention dust and food matter. Cleaning jewelry, much of it with crevices and fine details, can be a tedious chore and expensive, too, with specialized solutions for different metals and stones. Avoid this trouble by employing club soda, also known as soda water or carbonated water, along with a few household items. Use club soda, carbonated water or soda water that is unsalted. Check the nutritional information on the label of the bottle. If it has a sodium content higher than zero, don't use it.
Squirt a few drops of liquid dish soap into a bowl. The amount doesn't need to be exact.
Pour club soda over the liquid dish soap and mix well so that you have soapy, sudsy carbonated water. Use enough club soda so that it will cover most of the strainer when the strainer is placed in the bowl.
Place the pieces of jewelry to be cleaned in the strainer.
Place the strainer in the club soda mixture. Allow the pieces to soak for about five minutes.
Stir the jewelry in the strainer. One at a time, take the pieces out and lightly scrub them with the soft-bristled toothbrush. Dry with the soft cloth.
