How to Install a Pfister Kitchen Faucet Diverter

Your Price Pfister faucet has a diverter underneath the spout that diverts water to the sprayer. This part is round, cylindrical and about the size of a large thimble, and it is fairly easy to install as long as you know where it is located and how to reach it. You will need some common tools and a little bit of faucet knowledge to complete this job, which takes about 15 minutes of your time.

Step 1

Shut off the hot and cold water valves underneath the sink by turning the valve handles clockwise until they stop.

Step 2

Disconnect the spout from the spout base by turning and unsnapping the spout with your hands. Unscrew the spout base from the flat base of the faucet by turning the spout base counterclockwise with your hands or a pair of adjustable pliers. Lift the spout base up and out of the faucet.

Step 3

Remove the small, cylindrical diverter cap and diverter inside the faucet base with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Step 4

Install the new diverter by placing it inside the faucet base. Set the new diverter cap on top of the diverter so it lays flat inside of the faucet.

Step 5

Replace the spout base and screw it tightly to the faucet base. Snap the spout into the spout base and turn it to lock it in place.
