How to Paint the Earth
The planet Earth is such an immediately recognizable object that, even when it has been depicted by a person with limited skills in art, it is almost always identifiable on sight. The ability to paint a representation of the earth is a useful addition to anyone's repertoire.

Such images can be displayed on Earth Day posters, environmental posters, school reports, and many other graphic designs. The task of painting the earth is easiest to tackle if you break the earth down into manageable layers -- first the water, then the continents, then the sky.
Choose an image of the earth as your reference art. Draw the continents a few times to familiarize yourself with their shape. You don't need to draw or paint the continents with high accuracy, but you should make them recognizable for what they are.
Paint a blue circle, the size you would like the earth to be. Use a medium-sized paintbrush. Wait for the paint to dry.
Paint the continents as you practiced them, positioned over the blue circle. You might want to select either the Eastern or the Western Hemisphere. Concentrating on just one or the other allows you to put a familiar, major land mass in the center of the image. Use a smaller brush than what you used to paint the blue circle. The continents should be either brown or green. Wait for the paint to dry.
Paint swirls of white clouds over the continents and oceans. Make the cloud coverage translucent enough that the continents and water show through the swirls of clouds. Use a brush similar in size to what you used to paint the continents.
