How to Store Solar Lights

Solar lights are most commonly used as lighting decoration in a garden or along a sidewalk. During the day, the solar panel on the top of the light absorbs solar energy and turns it into electricity to recharge the internal batteries of the light. After the sun goes down, the sensor in the light turns on and the light shines. Solar lighting is safe for the environment and requires no electrical wiring.

  • Pull the solar light out of the ground and turn the manual power switch to the off position.

  • Wrap the solar light in newspaper or old towels to minimize the chance of it breaking while stored.

  • Place the solar light in a dry, safe place. Avoid storing it in the garage or basement because of temperature changes and the possibility of moisture. Most solar lights will have a life span of approximately two years.
