How to Troubleshoot the Samsung RF266

The Samsung RF266 refrigerator is a side-by-side model with ice and a water dispenser. The RF266 features separate cooling systems for the fridge and freezer, a pantry drawer with its own adjustable thermostat, a digital temperature readout and an auto-close feature if the doors are left open slightly. If you encounter performance problems with your RF266 refrigerator, you can usually troubleshoot smaller issues at home before calling in a service technician.

Step 1

Check to make sure the power cord is plugged completely into the outlet and check the fuses or circuit breaker if the fridge won’t work at all.

Step 2

Set the temperature control to a colder level and move the fridge out from the wall to improve air circulation if the inside isn’t chilling properly.

Step 3

Move any foods with high water content out of the colder parts of the fridge at the back and increase the internal temperature if food is freezing in the fridge.

Step 4

Move the refrigerator out from the wall a little and adjust the legs underneath the fridge to level it if the refrigerator seems overly noisy.

Step 5

Inspect the water line to ensure it is connected and the shutoff valve to ensure it’s open if the ice maker won’t make any ice. Ensure the ice maker is set to make a certain type of ice and not shut off.

Step 6

Move any objects from in front of the air vent and create some space between different food items in the freezer if frost forms on the walls of the freezer.
