Mounting Brackets for Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds function practically as a window covering as well as a decorative addition to a room. According to the History Department of the North Carolina State University, they were installed in St. Peter’s Church in Philadelphia back in the mid 1700s. Mounting venetian blinds is simply a matter of installing the brackets and then attaching the blinds.

Venetian blinds are an economical and pleasant window treatment.

Step 1

Hold the venetian blinds up to the top of the window. Check to see how much space is on either side. Plan on installing the brackets on the top of the window opening if there is less than 1/2 inch on either side. Choose either the top or side installation if there is more than 1/2 inch of space on the side of the blinds.

Step 2

Measure the width of your venetian blinds and mark that distance at the top of the window, centering it.

Step 3

Hold the bracket in place so that the venetian blinds will fit perfectly. Mark the screw holes with a pencil on the window frame. Remove the bracket and drill pilot holes into the window frame on both sides.

Step 4

Place the bracket back in position and screw it in place with the supplied screws.

Step 5

Slide the venetian blinds into the bracket and pivot the latches to hold them in place. Drop the blinds to the desired height by pulling the hanging string slightly to loosen the catch mechanism and then releasing the string. Adjust the angle of the blinds by twisting the hanging rod.
